Hybrid Working Policy Template

A hybrid working policy template offering flexible working options, with work split between company premises and home or another remote location, to help workers and to improve environmental performance and efficiency.

The policy has Approved By and Date Approved fields and carries a Public information classification, so it can be shared with workers, clients and other interested parties.

What the Hybrid Working Policy Covers

  • Principles - an overview of hybrid working, with individual agreements where needed and not all roles eligible
  • Working environment - a suitable environment and equipment, and arrangements to avoid distractions, including care for dependants
  • Assessment first - a risk assessment and home or remote working checklist before hybrid working starts
  • IT equipment and communications - equipment checked and approved before connecting, and adequate communications
  • Remote access - a list of remote access authorisations reviewed, and equipment returned and accounts closed when no longer needed
  • Health and safety - safe working procedures, display screen equipment assessments and risk assessment of the location
  • Insurance and permission - adequate insurance, and permission from a landlord or mortgage lender where applicable
  • Changes - reporting changes that could affect working safely or without distraction
  • Information security - remote access only with adequate controls, clear desk and screen, secure passwords and information transfer rules, and reporting lost equipment or incidents

Checked Against Cyber Essentials

The IT policies in the range have been checked against the Cyber Essentials requirements, so their rules on passwords, devices, access and updates do not contradict what a Cyber Essentials assessment asks for.

Using the Policy

Add your company name and logo, check each commitment matches what your organisation does and edit any that do not, then approve and date the policy and share it with workers and anyone else who needs to see it.

Who Needs a Hybrid Working Policy?

Organisations whose workers split their time between the workplace and home or another location.

Works with the Remote Working Procedure

The PP-1-21 Remote Working Policy Procedure sets out the procedure, the F-Q72 Home Working Checklist and RA-BR10 Remote and Hybrid Working risk assessment support the assessment before hybrid working starts, and DSE can be assessed on the F-HS18 DSE Self Assessment Form.

Document Control

The footer carries the policy number and title, information classification, version and page numbers, and the approval fields record who approved the policy and when, so it can be controlled with the rest of your management system documents and listed on a document register such as the F-IMS20 Document Register.
