Fabrication Job Card Template
A job card for a fabrication job - the job number, customer, drawings, weld procedures and any special inspection requirements, with a running log of the work completed, who did it and whether it was inspected. It travels with the job and captures its history.
For fabrication to BS EN 1090 and a quality management system to ISO 9001 (clause 8.5), production has to be carried out under controlled conditions and shown to be inspected. This job card gives each job a controlled, traceable record from start to final inspection.
Built for EN 1090 and ISO 9001 Production Control
The job card captures what a controlled fabrication job needs:
- Job number, customer and date required
- Whether CE or UKCA marking is required, and any special inspection requirements
- The weld procedures (WPS) and drawings that apply
- A running log of the work completed, operator or machine and inspection
- A final inspection sign-off before the job is released
What's Included in this Fabrication Job Card
The form is set out as a single job card:
- Job header - job number, date required, job description, customer, CE / UKCA marking requirement and job card number
- Requirements - special inspection or other requirements, weld procedures and drawings
- Work log - day and date, operator or machine, work completed, materials used, weld procedure and inspection
- Defects and final inspection - defects and repairs, and a final inspection sign-off with date
Who Needs a Fabrication Job Card?
Any fabricator or steelwork contractor that needs each job to carry its own controlled record of what was made, to what drawings and procedures, and how it was inspected. It suits businesses working to BS EN 1090 and ISO 9001.
Included in the BS EN 1090 Toolkit
This form is part of the BS EN1090 Toolkit - the registers, procedures, forms and guidance for running a welding management system in one download - and is included in every alphaZ ISO toolkit that covers quality management.
Pairs with the Fabrication-Production Job Card
For larger jobs that also need job-summary stages and labour costs, the fuller F-Q49 Fabrication-Production Job Card extends this card.
