Construction Products Regulations Policy Template
A construction products policy template summarising the key controls over the procurement of goods and services and over the specification, use and installation of construction products.
The policy has Approved By and Date Approved fields and carries a Public information classification, so it can be shared with workers, clients and other interested parties.
What the Construction Products Policy Covers
- Supplier appraisal - relevant purchasing from approved suppliers, with approved products and services on the approved supplier list
- Supplier quality monitoring - quality capability assessed before approval, and quality issues, nonconforming goods and rejected deliveries recorded against the supplier
- UKCA and CE marking checks - correct marking, good condition, and the declaration of performance and other documents
- Quarantine - goods not correctly marked or documented held until the supplier corrects it or an alternative is found
- Product classification and specification - categories of products and systems with the standard, marking and certification required for each
- Field of application - products used only for their intended purpose, as stated by the manufacturer
- Installation checks - installation by trained and competent workers, checked and approved by a competent person before the work is covered up
- Competence - a guidance line for listing the qualifications, cards and training your installers and checkers hold
- Counterfeit and fraudulent items - not purchased, with suspect items quarantined and reported
Written for the Common Assessment Standard
The supplier quality monitoring, product classification and specification, and installation checks sections cover the points the Common Assessment Standard (CAS) question set asks for on supplier quality, product classification and installation.
Using the Policy
Add your company name and logo, check each commitment matches what your organisation does and edit any that do not, then approve and date the policy and share it with workers and anyone else who needs to see it.
Who Needs a Construction Products Policy?
Organisations that buy, specify or install construction products, and those completing pre-qualification based on the Common Assessment Standard, such as Constructionline Gold.
Included in the ISO 9001 Toolkit
This policy is part of the ISO 9001 Toolkit and is also included in the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 toolkits and every alphaZ ISO toolkit that combines them.
Works with the Supplier Appraisal Procedure
The PP-1-09 Supplier Appraisal Policy Procedure and F-Q9 Supplier Appraisal Form support supplier appraisal, approved suppliers can be listed on the F-IMS42 Key Suppliers Register, and quarantined goods reviewed using the F-Q69 Non-Conformance Review form.
Document Control
The footer carries the policy number and title, information classification, version and page numbers, and the approval fields record who approved the policy and when, so it can be controlled with the rest of your management system documents and listed on a document register such as the F-IMS20 Document Register.
