Ethics and Code of Conduct Policy Template
An ethics and code of conduct policy template setting out the values and standards of behaviour expected of everyone who works for the organisation and of those it does business with. It applies to employees, temporary and agency staff, contractors and anyone acting on the organisation's behalf.
The policy has Approved By and Date Approved fields and carries a Public information classification, so it can be shared with workers, clients and other interested parties.
What the Ethics and Code of Conduct Policy Covers
- Our values - honesty, fairness, integrity and respect
- Quality culture and ethical behaviour - what they mean, promoted by top management through leadership, induction, training and briefings, and reviewed at management review
- What we expect of workers - accurate records, following procedures, respect, no bribes, declaring gifts, hospitality and conflicts of interest, protecting property and information, proper use of company resources, and speaking up
- Our people - a safe and healthy workplace, and equal opportunity for every worker
- Customers, suppliers and others - fair dealing, accurate information, paying suppliers on time, and avoiding organisations with exploitative practices
- Community and environment - local impacts such as noise and waste, and environmental performance
- Raising concerns - with a manager or the person responsible for the management system, in confidence and without detriment
- Awareness and compliance - induction and training, workers confirming they have read the policy, and the consequences of breaches
Quality Culture and Ethical Behaviour
ISO 9001:2026 asks top management to promote a quality culture and ethical behaviour. The policy sets out what the organisation means by each and how they are promoted and reviewed, so it can be used as the written statement behind that commitment.
Using the Policy
Add your company name and logo, check each commitment matches what your organisation does and edit any that do not, then approve and date the policy and share it with workers and anyone else who needs to see it.

Organisations working to ISO 9001:2026 or ISO 37001, and organisations whose customers or tender questionnaires ask for an ethics policy or code of conduct.
