Premises RWC Patrol Checklist Template

A monthly patrol checklist for the Responsible Welding Coordinator, combining premises health and safety checks with the equipment, materials, process and staff checks that keep welding under control. One sheet covers the year, month by month.

For a fabricator working to BS EN 1090, the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) has defined duties to oversee welding activity, and a workplace also has to be kept safe under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. This checklist gives the RWC a single monthly patrol that evidences both.

Built for the RWC Role and Workplace Safety

The checklist runs across the two sides of the RWC patrol:

  • Health and safety checks - fire extinguishers, exits and signage, alarms, first aid, PPE, COSHH, safe storage, walkways and electrical equipment
  • Welding coordination checks - measuring equipment, welding consumables, parent materials, calibration and maintenance register, welder qualifications and weld procedures
  • Production and testing checks - production paperwork and NDT testing
  • A month-by-month grid so each check is recorded across the whole year

What's Included in this Premises RWC Patrol Checklist

The form is set out as a twelve-month checklist in two parts:

  • Health and safety checks - fourteen premises checks from fire extinguishers and exits to COSHH, safe storage and emergency evacuation, each recorded monthly
  • RWC equipment, materials and process checks - measuring equipment, welding consumables, parent materials, the maintenance and calibration register, welder qualifications, weld procedures, production checks and NDT testing
  • Guidance notes - short notes explaining what each key check is looking for, including evacuation to be scheduled at least twice a year

Who Needs a Premises RWC Patrol Checklist?

Any welding or steel fabrication business, especially one certified to BS EN 1090, where a Responsible Welding Coordinator has to keep welding activity and the workshop under control. It suits fabricators who want one monthly record covering both quality coordination and premises safety.

Included in the BS EN1090 Toolkit

This form is part of the BS EN1090 Toolkit - the registers, procedures, forms and guidance for running a welding management system in one download - and is included in every alphaZ ISO toolkit that covers quality management.

Pairs with the Welder Qualification Record

The patrol checks that welder qualifications are current. Keep the detail behind that check on the F-Q46 Welder Qualification record, which tracks each welder against the approved weld procedures.
